In Her Own Words: Jennifer Sagaria
Working at Bancroft requires the right mix of patience, understanding and a passion for what we do. We can think of no better example of these values than Jennifer Sagaria, a Day Support Associate at Bancroft’s Flicker Residence Program.

What led you to a career working with individuals?
Picture it, Marlton, 1997. A young woman attends an interview in hopes that she gets hired as she had literally, no career at the time. I was taking classes to become a Personal Trainer as I’ve worked in gyms since graduating high school. I love working with people, especially the one to one dynamic. With absolutely NO experience, Bancroft took a chance on me and here I am 28 years later, older (not wiser LOL) loving what I do.
How did you first come to Bancroft?
A friend referred me to Bancroft and told me that my personality and humor would fit perfectly with some of the programs that are supported here.
What do you love most about being at Bancroft?
Cookie cutter answer? The individuals of course! They give me life!! I admire their determination, strength, their willingness to learn something new and most of all resilience. They never give up after trying. Their wins, whether big or small, are just amazing to watch. Their transformations through life is something to be admired. Every day is a lesson and truly a new adventure.
How do you see your work making a difference in the lives of the people you support?
This is a tough one to answer. I would have to say that when a medical provider gives the individual you support a compliment on how well they’re doing, you know you’re headed in the right direction. That they see the support and the love and care we have for them!
Can you share a moment or experience that has stayed with you?
There are so many moments that will stay with me. Every smile, every hug, every high five, every experience. I cannot possibly share just one. There are so many wonderful stories and not enough time or thread space to share!
How has Bancroft supported your growth or professional development?
Over the years I’ve had great mentors who have pushed me to take another step up in the company. They’ve encouraged me to attend seminars over the years relevant to my position. I’ve networked with alot of people and have learned alot about myself. I’ve worn many hats over the years but this hat is comfy and fits well.
What do you love about the team or culture here?
I share this with people all the time, Flicker is different. We are not like other programs within the organization. There is a special dynamic here like no other that has made us a family.
What is your favorite part of your day at Bancroft?
Coming to work and saying good morning to all those that inspire us everyday. What makes that worth it are the smiles and amazing greetings that you get. They just look so happy to see you. Like you showed up today! Yay!! It just makes my day.
What would you tell someone considering a career at Bancroft?
Do it. Try something new! Share a little bit of you. Be a part of their transformation. Be the reason they smile. Be the reason they live their best life!! You never know, you may transform yourself.
